David Spence practices exclusively in the areas of taxation, wealth management and legacy planning for individuals, families, and charitable organizations. Over the last twenty-three years, David has practiced with prominent law firms and accounting firms in Silicon Valley and San Francisco, including KPMG, Ferrari Alvarez Olsen & Ottoboni, Moerschbaecher & Dryburgh, Berliner Cohen, and Deloitte & Touche. Immediately prior to joining Royse Law Firm, David worked for Wells Fargo Private Bank, where he served as Regional Trust Manager, and Senior Wealth Management Specialist for the Silicon Valley Region.
David has counseled some of the largest and most complex estates in the world. He has worked extensively with philanthropists, their private foundations, and many public charities to develop and implement tax-efficient, planned giving programs. David has represented clients before various courts and administrative agencies of the federal and state government, including the United States Tax Court and the Internal Revenue Service. He is also a former member of the teaching faculty at Lincoln Law School.
David has served in numerous volunteer positions with charitable organizations. He is currently a mentor for the Silicon Valley Planned Giving Council’s Incubator Project, and a member of the Planned Giving Advisory Board for the American Red Cross-Silicon Valley Chapter. David also served for two years as a full-time voluntary representative of his church in Sweden, and has conversational proficiency in the Swedish language.
