Royse Law Entertainment Group: Representative Transactions

Motion pictures & television: Tax planning and corporate advice to motion picture productions. The Entertainment Group recently assisted in a large financing transaction involving a film and television digital studio complex in Massachusetts. Services include establishing entities for production, finance and distribution.

Music & media: Royse Law Entertainment Group recently represented Independent Online Distribution Alliance, a music distributor, in connection with an equity transaction with Sony. The Entertainment Group also currently represents several media companies (mobile, internet, home entertainment) in connection with corporate, securities and licensing matters.

Sports: Representation of athletes in business/personal planning and transactions. Royse Law Entertainment Group recently provided planning advice and structured acquisition vehicles for a women’s professional soccer team.

International tax: Advised a European distributor for one of the major studios in setting up a royalty structure to minimized foreign withholding taxes, ensuring that foreign taxes would qualify for favorable US tax credits. Advised foreign producers and talent on tax-efficient arrangements for inbound motion picture production affairs.

Estate planning: Comprehensive domestic and international estate planning for high net worth individuals/family offices. Recent engagements: planned gifting; grantor retained income trusts (GRATs); intentionally defective grantor trusts; charitable trusts; and living wills and trusts. Highly experienced in family owned entities and related succession planning.
